Annette Wiles is in her eighth season of directing the Fort Hays State University women’s basketball program. A native of Hunter, Kan., Wiles became head coach of the women’s basketball program prior to the 2000-01 season. In seven seasons with Fort Hays State, Wiles has a record of 124-74, a .626 winning percentage. Wiles enters her 15th season as a head coach after coaching at Bethany College (Kan.) for seven years prior to her stint at FHSU. Wiles has a career record of 288-126, a .696 winning percentage, which ranks 17th in winning percentage among active women’s basketball coaches at the NCAA Division II level. She ranks 37th among active NCAA Division II coaches in total wins.Wiles has a great chance of reaching the 300-win plateau for her career this season, only 12 wins shy of the mark. In seven seasons, three of Wiles’ teams have reached the 20-win plateau. She has reached the 20-win mark in a season more than any other coach in school history. Fort Hays State has one NCAA Division II Regional appearance to its credit under Wiles, coming in 2004-05 when the team posted a record of 22-8. It was the first NCAA Division II National Tournament appearance for the women’s basketball program at FHSU. Wiles’ teams qualified for the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Shootout every season from 2000-01 to 2005-06 before making the conference change to the MIAA prior to 2006-07. During the summer of 2001, Wiles coached the U.S. team at the Arafura Games where she led the squad to a second-place finish. She was also selected to coach the U.S. squad at the World University Games during the summer of 2002. Wiles has been selected to be the head coach of the U.S. team at the Adriatic Games in Croatia in May of 2008. As a head coach at Bethany College in Lindsborg, Kan., Wiles led the Swedes to seven consecutive seasons of 21 or more wins and a school record 28 victories during the 1999-00 season. The Swedes made four NAIA National Tournament appearances under her direction finishing in the Elite 8 once and Sweet 16 twice. Bethany captured the 1998 and 2000 Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference regular season titles and the 1995, 1999 and 2000 post-season KCAC Tournament titles during her tenure. She was twice named KCAC Coach of the Year, in 1998 and 2000. The Kansas Basketball Coaches Association honored her as its coach of the year in 1995 and 1999 and she was named Sears Collegiate Conference Coach of the Year in 1998. The Bethany College women’s basketball team was the #1 academic NAIA team in 1996 and 1998 with grade point averages of 3.62 and 3.71, respectively. Playing center, Wiles helped guide the 1990-1991 FHSU women’s basketball team to a 34-2 record and NAIA National Championship. The squad captured the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference and NAIA District 10 titles on the way to the national title. She was named Most Valuable Player of the 1991 NAIA National Tournament. The two-time All-American played four seasons at FHSU from 1987-91 and ended her career as the top scorer and rebounder in the history of the women’s program with 2,407 points and 961 rebounds. The career records still stand today. Wiles is a member of both the Tiger Sports and Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Hall of Fame. She was inducted into the Tiger Sports Hall of Fame in 2000 as an individual. She became a member of just the second class to ever be inducted into the RMAC Hall of Fame in 2003. The 1990-91 FHSU National Championship team she played for was inducted into the Tiger Sports Hall of Fame in 2007. Wiles received a bachelor’s degree in Physical Education from FHSU in 1991 and a master’s degree in Athletic Administration from FHSU in 1993. |

M. Shane Larson is in his second season as assistant coach of the Fort Hays State women's basketball program. The Waterville, Kan., native joined the program in the summer of 2006. He assists in all facets of the FHSU women's basketball program and focuses primarily on recruiting. This is Larson's second stint with the women's program after serving as a graduate assistant at FHSU from 2000-2002.Larson returns to FHSU after serving as Head Girls Basketball Coach at Washington High School in Washington, Kan., from 2003-2006. Before serving as the graduate assistant at Fort Hays State, Larson was the Assistant Women's Basketball Coach at Bethany College in Lindsborg, Kan., from 1998-2000. Prior to his coaching days, Larson competed in track and field/cross country for two years at Cloud County Community College and two years at Bethany College. At Cloud County, he finished in the top 13 nationally in the pentathalon. At Bethany College, he earned all-conference honors in both cross country and track and field. Larson attained his bachelor's degree in Social Science Education from Bethany College in 2000. In 2002, he earned his master's degree in Sports Administration from Fort Hays State University. Larson is married to the former Jennie Williams, also of Waterville, Kan.

Whitney Corley is in her second season as graduate assistant coach of the Fort Hays State women's basketball program. A native of Mooreland, Okla., Corley was a student assistant coach at Southwestern College in Winfield, Kansas, during the 2005-2006 season. She played basketball at Southwestern from 2003-2005. Prior to that, she played basketball at Northern Oklahoma College in Tonkawa, Okla., from 2001-2003. Corley was an NAIA Division II All-American and was the 2005 Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference Player of the Year. She was named twice to both the All-Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference and Academic All-Conference Teams. Corley earned a bachelor's degree in Health and Physical Education from Southwestern College in 2006. |
