Robbins Named MIAA Hitter of the Week
The MIAA Announced its baseball players of the week on Tuesday (April 21). Earning MIAA Hitter of the Week honors was Tyler Robbins of Fort Hays State.

Robbins, a 6-foot-0, 185-pound junior from Denver, Colo., batted .588 (10-of-17) with six runs batted in and six runs scored as the Tigers went 4-0 last week in conference road action.

He was 7-of-10 in the doubleheader sweep at then-No. 19 Nebraska-Omaha Sunday (April 19) with five RBI, three stolen bases and two runs scored. Robbins had four hits in the opener and picked up his only RBI during a six-run seventh as FHSU claimed an 11-4 win.

In the second game, Robbins was 3-for-5 with four runs batted in and a run scored -- his two-run single in the second inning gave the Tigers a 5-4 lead as they went on to take it by a 10-6 count.

He scored four runs for Fort Hays State in a sweep at Washburn Wednesday (April 15). He reached twice in four appearances at the plate in game one (a walk and hit by pitch) and scored twice in a 4-1 decision. He was 3-for-5 in the nightcap with a run-scoring single during a seven-run second frame, a double and two runs scored.

Robbins is a graduate of Cherry Creek (Colo.) High School, and transferred to FHSU from Garden City (Kan.) Community College.
