The No. 3 ranked Fort Hays State men’s basketball team played at Missouri Western on Monday evening (Feb. 1) in St. Joseph, Mo. The Tigers headed to the Northwest corner of Missouri this past weekend unbeaten in conference play, but the Tigers dropped their second straight road game in three days as they fell to the Griffons by a score of 75-69. Bearcats Upset No. 3 Tigers, End 13-Game Win Streak
The Fort Hays State men’s basketball squad had a rough beginning to a three-game road swing on Saturday afternoon (Jan. 30) in Maryville, Mo. After surviving their last two games by four points or less, the luck ran out on the No. 3 ranked Tigers as Northwest Missouri State pulled out a 62-59 win. FHSU Men No. 1, Women No. 7 in First Set of Regional Rankings
The NCAA released its first set of Division II Regional Rankings for the 2009-2010 season on Wednesday, January 27. Fort Hays State’s men are the top ranked team in the South Central Region, while the women are seventh. Eight teams will be selected to participate in the South Central Regionals of the men’s and women’s national tournaments at the end of the season. Read more...

Jones Hits Game Winner with Two Seconds Remaining to Lift No. 3 Tigers
The Fort Hays State men’s basketball team received all it could handle on Wednesday night at home as it hosted Nebraska-Omaha. With the game tied at 80-80 after a pair of free-throws by Nebraska-Omaha’s Andrew Bridger, Dominique Jones was clutch as he hit the game winner just beyond the foul-line with two seconds remaining to lift the Tigers to a two-point win of 82-80. Tigers Move Up To No. 5 in National Rankings
The Fort Hays State men’s basketball squad climbed one spot in the latest NABC Division II national rankings. The Tigers are ranked No. 5 in the nation, their first top-five appearance in the poll since 2005-06. The loss by the previous No. 1 team, Augusta State, on Saturday allowed the Tigers to nudge up a bit further in the rankings. Taking over the new No. 1 spot this week in Arkansas Tech. No. 6 Tigers Cruise in Win at Pittsburg State
The Fort Hays State men’s basketball squad played at Pittsburg State on Saturday afternoon (Jan. 16). The No. 6 ranked Tigers cruised to a 69-56 win over the Gorillas. The final score was not representative of the dominating effort from FHSU, which led by 18 at halftime and as many as 26 in the second half. Basketball Back in Action at Pitt State on Saturday
The Fort Hays State basketball teams return to action on Saturday, January 16, at Pittsburg State University. This is the beginning of a two-game road swing for FHSU. Women’s game is at 1:30 pm, followed by the men at 3:30 pm. The Lady Tigers enter at 13-2 overall and 6-2 in the MIAA, and the FHSU men, ranked No. 6 in Division II, enter at 14-1 overall and 8-0 in the MIAA.

Tigers Move to #6 in Latest National Rankings
The Fort Hays State men’s basketball team vaulted to No. 6 in the latest NCAA Division II rankings on Tuesday, January 12. The Tigers jumped four spots in the rankings this week after three of the unbeaten teams in front of them lost. One of those teams was No. 1 Central Missouri, who the Tigers defeated in Warrensburg, Mo., last Monday when they were ranked No. 13. Also helping Fort Hays State’s cause in moving up was a win over previous No. 11 ranked Southwest Baptist on Saturday in Hays. The Fort Hays State men’s basketball squad hosted Missouri Southern on Monday night (Jan. 11) in Hays. The Lions pushed the #10 ranked Tigers all the way to the finish. Fort Hays State overcame a six-point second half deficit and could not stretch their lead to more than two possessions until 29 seconds remained in the game. The FHSU men’s basketball hosted Southwest Baptist on Saturday, January 9 at Gross Memorial Coliseum in Hays. The #10 ranked Tigers defeated the #11 ranked Bearcats by a score of 102-89 to pick up their second win over a ranked team this week. #13 Tigers Defeat Top Ranked Central Missouri in Warrensburg
The FHSU men’s basketball team played its biggest game of the season on Monday, January 4 at Central Missouri in Warrensburg, Mo. The Tigers, ranked #13 in the nation, pulled off their first ever upset of a #1 ranked team in their NCAA Division II history by defeating the Mules 81-71. It was the first loss of the season for the Mules and snapped their 27-game home court win streak. Fort Hays State moved to 12-1 overall and 6-0 in the MIAA, while the Mules dropped to 12-1 overall and 5-1 in the MIAA. Read more...

On Tuesday, December 8, the Fort Hays State men’s basketball team returned to the NCAA Division II national rankings for the first time since the 2006-07 season. The National Association of Basketball Coaches tabbed the Tigers #22 in the nation this week. Fort Hays State is off to a 6-1 overall start this year. Ben Congiusta Signs With Men's Basketball
Congiusta played in nine games for UT-Martin last season, averaging 2.0 points per game in limited action as a freshman. He hit 60 percent of his field goal attempts. Congiusta played behind one of the nation's top guards in Lester Hudson, a two-time All-American at UT-Martin that finished second in the nation in scoring at 27.5 points per game. Read more...

Men’s Basketball Ranks 11th In Division II For Attendance
Fort Hays State University men’s basketball ranked 11th in NCAA Division II in attendance for the 2008-2009 season. An average of 2,175 fans attended Fort Hays State’s 16 home games during the season. Only two schools in NCAA Division II averaged more than 3,000 fans per home game, that being national leader Northern State (S.D.) at 4,735 per game and St. Cloud State (Minn.) at 3,316 per game. The selections for the 2009 NCAA Division II Men’s Basketball National Tournament were released on Sunday evening. The Tigers, ranked ninth in the South Central Region heading into the week, made their case for a second straight selection in the tournament, but it was not to be.
