Haynes 6th In 100 Meters; McCormick 7th In Javelin
The Fort Hays State outdoor track and field season wrapped up on Saturday (May 23) in San Angelo, Texas, at the NCAA Division II Championships. The Tigers finished the weekend with four All-American honors. After Darcie Schmitz had earned the honors in the long jump and triple jump the previous two days, Bryan Haynes (100 meters) and Lindsay McCormick (javelin) turned in All-American performances on Saturday. Schmitz Sets Another Record, Finishes Seventh In Triple Jump
Darcie Schmitz capped her impressive weekend at the NCAA Division II Outdoor Track and Field Championships by breaking her own school record in the triple jump. Schmitz finished seventh, grabbing her second All-American honor of the weekend. On Friday (May 22), she jumped 39-feet, 7.75-inches to break her old school record of 39-feet, 6-inches that she set back on April 10. Read more...

Schmitz Goes Big In Long Jump; Haynes Through To 100 Meter Finals
Fort Hays State has five individuals competing at the NCAA Division II Championships in San Angelo, Texas, this weekend. On Thursday (May 21), three of those athletes were in action, which included Darcie Schmitz in the women’s long jump, Bryan Haynes in the men’s 100-meter dash, and Tim McElroy in the men’s hammer throw. Schmitz placed fourth in the long jump with a new FHSU record and shattered her career-best mark, and Haynes qualified for the 100-meter finals. Read more...

Five FHSU Athletes To Compete At NCAA II Outdoor Track and Field Championships
The selections have been made for the 2009 NCAA Division II Outdoor Track and Field Championships in San Angelo, Texas. Haynes & Witzel Claim MIAA Individual Titles
The Fort Hays State track and field squad competed at the MIAA Championships in Joplin, Mo., this past weekend. The FHSU men’s team finished fifth and the women’s team finished seventh. Bryan Haynes and Morgan Witzel were the only individuals to win events for FHSU. Haynes won the men’s 100 and 200 meters, and Witzel won the women’s high jump. Read more...

Haynes Earns All-American Honors In The 60-Meter Dash
Fort Hays State junior sprinter Bryan Haynes earned All-American honors on Saturday at the NCAA Division II Indoor Track and Field Championships in Houston, Texas. He finished sixth in the 60-meter dash, which gave him All-American honors for the second consecutive indoor season. He was the national champion in the 200-meter dash last year, but was just one position out of qualifying for the finals this year. Read more...

Haynes Named USTFCCCA South Central Region Indoor Track Athlete of the Year
Fort Hays State junior sprinter Bryan Haynes was named the United States Track and Field/Cross Country Coaches Association South Central Region Indoor Track Athlete of the Year. The Peoria, Ariz., native was the high point athlete at the MIAA Indoor Championships, scoring over half of Fort Hays State’s points (26). The Fort Hays State men’s and women’s track and field squads competed at the MIAA Indoor Championships in Warrensburg, Mo., February 27-March 1. FHSU Women’s Track and Field Team Earns USTFCCCA All-Academic Honors
The Fort Hays State women’s track and field team was honored by the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association as an All-Academic Team. Fort Hays State was one of 58 schools in Division II that earned the honor. To be nominated, the team must carry a minimum 3.00 cumulative GPA. Fort Hays State had a team GPA of 3.16, which ranked 44th out of the 58 teams honored. Read more...

FHSU Track and Field Teams Land 27 On MIAA Commisssioner's Academic Honor Roll
The Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association announced today the 2008 Commissioner's Academic Honor Roll for track and field. Twenty-seven Tiger athletes earned the honor, which included on the men’s team Rocky Baalmann, Justin Bauer, Aaron Davidson, Andrew Gannon, Trayer Gassman, Matt Goetz, Kyle Jilka, Aaron Pablo, Nick Panek, A.J. Preisner, Kyle Reed, Ryan Small, Andrew Smith, Aaron Yoder, and Dan Yoder. On the women’s team, those Tiger athletes earning this honor included Christa Bergmann, Ashley Dopita, Brooke Hobbs, Mallory Joseph, Katie Kersenbrock, Kylene Kirmer, Jessica Kuhn, Megan McClain, Lindsay McCormick, Alison Mishler, Ashlee Orr, and Jayci Peters.

Six Athletes To Represent Fort Hays State At Outdoor Track and Field Championships
Six track and field athletes from Fort Hays State have qualified for the NCAA Division II National Championships in Pomona, Calif., May 22-24. There will be five men and one woman representing the Tigers. The men’s qualifiers include senior Brady Maska (discus and hammer throw), junior Bryan Haynes (100 and 200 meters), sophomore Garrett Edgar (javelin), senior Kyle Jilka (javelin), and freshman Adam Capps (javelin). Tiger Indoor Track & Field Teams Compete In Two Meets Over Weekend
The Fort Hays State indoor track and field teams competed in two meets this past week. On Friday, a select number of Tiger athletes participated in the Jayhawk Invitational in Lawrence, Kan., while on Saturday, most of the remaining team competed in the Charlie Foster Classic, in Kearney, Neb. In the two events combined, FHSU had two event winners, eight second-place finishes, and nine third-place finishes. Winning individual events were Bryan Haynes in the 200-meter dash with a time of 22.60 seconds at the Charlie Foster Classic and Ashlee Orr, who won the 5000-meter run at the Jayhawk Invitational with a time of 18:39.84.

Tiger Indoor Track and Field Teams Compete In UNK Pre-Holiday Open
The Fort Hays State indoor track and field teams were in action last Friday at the Nebraska-Kearney Pre-Holiday Classic in Kearney, Nebraska. Fort Hays State had a total of 15 individuals compete in the meet, while four members won individual events. These individuals include on the men’s side Jordan Stroup, who won the 3000 meter run with a time of 10:02.16, David Funk, who won the pole vault with a height of 14’ 11.50”, and Drew Schmidt, who tied for first in the high jump with a height of 6’ 4.75”. On the women’s side, Kelsey Martin was the lone individual winner after winning the 55-meter hurdles with a time of 8.55 seconds.
