The Fort Hays State women’s basketball team posted its second consecutive dominating performance to open the season with an 89-33 win over Northwestern Oklahoma State on Wednesday evening in Hays. A swarming Lady Tiger defense forced 29 turnovers from the Rangers and recorded 17 steals as a team in the game. Annette Wiles announced her resignation from the position of head women's basketball coach at Fort Hays State University. Wiles served as head coach of the Lady Tiger program for eight years from 2000 to 2008. She compiled a record of 136-89 at Fort Hays State. She guided Fort Hays State to six Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference tournament appearances from 2000-2006, and led the Tigers to one appearance in the NCAA Division II National Tournament during the 2004-2005 season. The Fort Hays State women’s basketball team played its final home game of the season on Saturday night (March 1) in Hays. The Lady Tigers hosted Northwest Missouri State in a must win situation to have a chance at the MIAA Tournament. FHSU defeated Northwest Missouri 69-59, but Missouri Western won its game which kept the Lady Tigers from qualifying for the tournament. Kuntzsch earned third-team honors for the College Division.
