Alessandro Abate enters his first season as an assistant coach with the Fort Hays State men’s soccer team.
Abate is familiar with Kansas after playing one season at Garden City (Kan.) Community College. He then transferred to Spring Hill College in Alabama, where he competed at the NCAA Division II level for three seasons. He earned Gulf South Conference All-Tournament team honors in 2024 and was a CSC Academic All-District selection in 2023.
Abate’s playing experience at both the junior college and NCAA Division II levels has provided him with a strong understanding of the game and player development, which he now brings to the Fort Hays State men’s soccer program. Originally from Rome, Italy, he attended Liceo Lucrezio Caro before moving to the United States to pursue both his academic and athletic career.
