Results
The Lady Tigers track and field team totaled four individual champions at the Wildcat Invitational on Saturday (Jan. 21) hosted by Kansas State in Manhattan, Kan.
Sam Szczublewski,
Carman Hill,
Melinda Davis and
Anna Eigruber all won events for FHSU.
Szczublewski, a sophomore from Gilbert, Ariz., won a tight race in the 600 yard run. Szxzublewski timed a 1:27.79 to take first by .11 seconds over Autumn Scott of Missouri-Kansas City. FHSU's
Jordan Ortega was third with a time of 1:27.95 in the event.
Hill, a sophomore from Hoxie, Kan. also had success in a middle distance race, winning the 800 meter run with a time of 2:25.97. Vanessa Resh of Cloud placed second, crossing the finish line at 2:28.49
The Tigers had two individual champions in field events. Davis, a freshman from Bucklin, Kan., won the pole vault, going 9 feet, 6.25 inches to win by 6 inches. Kristen Harris of Cloud finished second with height of 9 feet, 0.25 inches.
Eigruber, a sophomore from McPherson, Kan., was the individual champion in the long jump. She jumped a distance of 18 feet, 8.5 inches, winning the long jump event by 7 inches. Kasey Hill finished second and Sarah Kolmer was third.
FHSU track and field travels to the Kansas Jayhawk Classic on Friday (Jan. 27) in Lawrence, Kan.
