Men's Track and Field

Hendee 3rd, Reith 6th Lead Tigers at Frank Sevigne Husker Invitational

The Fort Hays State men's track and field team faced stiff competition from many Division I programs on Friday and Saturday (Feb. 3 & 4) at the Frank Sevigne Husker Invitational in Lincoln, Neb. The Tigers were led by Alex Hendee and Cameron Reith with third and sixth places, respectively.
 
Hendee, who has twice been named MIAA Track Student-Athlete of the Week this season, placed third in the 3000 meters. His time of 8:30 was only 3 seconds off the time of Mike Hernandez, who won the race with an 8:27. Robert Brockmueller crossed in second with an 8:28 time.
 
Reith, a senior from Garden City, Kan., ran a time of 15:00 in the 5,000 meters to finish in the sixth place. Elliot Krause of Wisconsin was victorious in the race with a 14:06 in the event. Solomon Gardea of UTEP finished second in 14:32 with Brockmueller third in 14:46.
 
Jordan Carlisle finished eighth in the high jump for the Tigers. The freshman from St. Joseph, Mo. jumped 6-feet, 6.25-inches in his eighth place finish. James White of Iowa Central went 7-feet, 4.25-inches to win the high jump event.
 
The Tigers travel to Colorado Springs, Colo. on Friday (Feb. 10) for the Air Force Invitational.
